Emily Dickinson     Fascicle 2 Sheet 3. Edited by Cristanne Miller

We believe our lives and days to be so important (venerate the simple days). We believe we are more important than the millions of acres of forests that we are chopping down to build housing developments, parking lots, and streets.

“To invest existence with a stately air-.” Trees give us life, they remove carbon dioxide from the air while at the same time providing an immense amount of oxygen to the air.  Here is an article by the U.S. department of Agriculture that sums up the process, The Power of One Tree.

That simple little acorn and those seeds that graciously fall from the trees, are actually keeping us alive. They are giving us air.  They are “the egg of forests/For the upper Air!”
